The Learning Area for Business, Computing, Engineering, Design and Food Nutrition

The learning environment has had a lot of investment over the last few years with two new modern food rooms and the refurbishment of the workshops that include a laser cutter, plasma cutter, vinyl cutters, CNC routers and 3 x 3D printers.

The curriculum, developed to support practical based learning,  allows students to express themselves freely and select the right pathways as they move up the school.

There is a creative provision for students with the BTEC Art and Design course which delivers the 2D and 3D design and for the more technical student there is the GCSE Engineering.  The new 9 – 1 GCSE in Food and Nutrition is available for students who wish to follow a route in the Catering industry whilst the GCSE in Business is aimed at students with entrepreneurial  ambitions. To top it all off there is the GCSE in Computing for students who sit at the latest edge of Tech and programming.

In addition to school based lessons we believe that ‘learning beyond the classroom’ is fundamental in the development of each individual, and opportunities for subject based trips and events are valued. We encourage links wit local business and partnerships with colleges and feeder schools.

The Tech learning area is vibrant, flexible, encouraging and welcoming.
