Safeguarding-Anti Bullying

Designated Safeguarding Lead: Iain Parsons

Bullying – We can STOP it

This can take a number of forms and will not be tolerated. Our priority is to support any

victim. We then look to educate the bully. There is no place at Winton for any student

who will not meet out standards. Bullying is not welcome here.

If students, staff or parents have any concerns around a child being bullied they should;

1.  Look to support the young person and suggest they use their ‘go to’ person.

2.  Inform the child’s mentor.

3.  Email naming the child and outlining concerns.

4.  Tell parents or colleagues what you have done to support.

5.  Report it to the prefect ant bullying team.

At Winton we recognise the concerns around bullying however we are fortunate in that it is extremely rare and well dealt with. Our priority is to support the victim and ensure that the sanction supports re-education, preventing a repeat and ensuring the safety of students.

Bullying at Winton is defined as Several Times On Purpose. Friends falling out, one off incident or disagreements are not bullying. The malicious repeated targeting of a student or colleague is bullying and will not be tolerated.

All bullying allegations are investigated. They are then classed as bullying or not. If they are recorded as bullying then they will be classified and monitored by the designated

safeguarding lead.

There is a termly STOP report to the governing body.
