Music at Winton is an integral part of the Perform Learning Area and the curriculum is delivered through an innovative programme that is tailored to, and suits our students.  Students at Winton access music through a variety of routes that include one to one tuition, group teaching, workshops and master classes with visiting practitioners.

The music curriculum is vibrant and is designed to encourage students to become confident in listening to music and understanding its importance to our lives.

We are trying to give students the skills to be independent learners through music and our aim is to give them an understanding and love of music, which they will develop throughout their lives.

At both Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 our courses include performing, composing, listening to and analysing a range of music in different styles.  Extra-curricular opportunities include Steel Band, Choir and Junk Orchestra.  Students have access to peripatetic lessons during the school day taught by specialist visiting musicians.  It is important that students are offered the very best opportunities to progress so they are offered a one to one, half hour instrumental lesson. Our instrumental lessons are subsidised so the cost to parents is minimised.
